About Unity of Bon Air

Welcome

If you’re looking for a positive, non-judgmental spiritual experience, then Unity of Bon Air in Richmond, Virginia is the place for you.

Unity is a practical, progressive approach to Christianity based on the teachings of Jesus. We teach the transformational principles of love, prayer, meditation, forgiveness, and peace. We celebrate the many paths to God.

We invite you to join us in a Sunday celebration and also to participate in one of the many workshops, classes, and events we host throughout the year.

Our Mission

To live and express unconditional love and acceptance.

Our Vision

Unity of Bon Air is an inclusive spiritual community integrating practical Christianity with all areas of knowledge, where we live and grow together in peace and prosperity.

Unity of Bon Air embraces Oneness. We are inclusive and welcome all races, colors, genders, ages, creeds, origins, ethnicities, differing abilities and sexual orientations.

Unity Has Five Basic Principles

We encourage you to explore and apply Unity teachings based on your own spiritual understanding. We believe this spiritual understanding is enhanced through reflective prayer and meditation. The five basic ideas that make up the Unity belief system are:

God is the source and creator of all. There is no other enduring power. God is good and present everywhere.
We are spiritual beings, created in God’s image. The spirit of God lives within each person; therefore, all people are inherently good.
We create our life experiences through our way of thinking.
There is power in affirmative prayer, which we believe increases our awareness of God.
Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not enough. We must live them.

Meet the Minister

Transitional Minister: Reverend Patrice Bittner, Unity Minister

Rev. Patty was born in Orlando, FL, raised Catholic and spent time as a Methodist and Episcopalian during college. She majored in Elementary Ed but did youth ministry throughout college. Then she settled into becoming a minister in the Presbyterian Church where she served mostly rural churches for 30 years. After attending Unity of Bon Air about 10 years ago she decided Unity was her tribe. She attended Unity Urban Ministerial School and was ordained in 2017. She became the minister of Unity of Ann Arbor in 2018 and returned to Richmond in July 2021. She is delighted to serve this spiritual center which opened the doors to new life and new perspectives after leaving a 27 year marriage. She loves the people, the creativity and the unconditional love that is a daily experience here.  Presently she is living with Rev. Joyce Fisher Pierce in her beautiful home.
